Cango Caves

29km from Oudtshoorn, at the head of the picturesque Cango Valley, lie the spectacular underground wonder of the Klein Karoo – the Cango Caves. Situated in a limestone ridge parallel to the well known Swartberg Mountains, you will find the finest dripstone caverns, with their vast halls and towering formations.

The facility has been in existence for 30 years and currently comprises of over 90 different species of animals and 100 full-time staff. Provide guided tours which are fundamental in our education programs, giving each species a voice, and enlightening the public on animal and environmental issues. In order to bring these ‘messages home’ they have enveloped it in a fun and unique setting and proudly see themselves as one-of-a-kind.

Karusa Vineyard is nestled in the tranquil village of Schoemanshoek, en-route to the world-famous Cango Caves from the Little Karoo town of Oudtshoorn. Well-known for its Cap Classique and Mediterranean-styled wines, Karusa is a family-operated and managed Southern Cape Premium Wine producer & Craft Brewery.

Swartberg Pass

Oudtshoorn

The Swartberg Circle Route is a scenic and interesting drive. Travel from Oudtshoorn or Calitzdorp to De Rust, Klaarstroom and Prince Albert, over Swartberg Pass and through Meiringspoort. The trip may be started at any of the four towns and traveled in either a clockwise or anti-clockwise direction. The picturesque back routes include Oudemuragie, Vergelegen, Lategansvlei, Groenfontein, Kruisrivier and Langverwaght.
